Johannesburg, Oct 6 (People’s Daily Online) - The most anticipated event on the equestrian calendar, the Galencia South African Derby 2015 took place from the 30th of September to the 4th of October at the Kyalami Equestrian Park in Johannesburg.
This year marks its 50th anniversary, sponsored by Chinese-owned enterprise Galencia Property for the third consecutive years. With over 6000 spectators, the five-day event witnessed the country’s top show jumpers competing over a treacherous course, testing both rider and horse in an attempt to make it through to the nail-biting final on Sunday.
Anne Marie Esslinger went through the maneuver to get the trophy, saying “None of the fences pose an individual problem. It’s keeping the whole act together for over a kilometer and 23 jumping efforts of skill, power and accuracy.”
